The subject of this delinquent-but-still-special mix is John Locke. No, not that Limey philosopher who theorized that the mind is a tabula rasa (blank slate). I’m talking about the character on ABC’s wildly frustrating and popular TV series Lost. Season whatever just closed with some major revelations about my boy John. Like the show, this mix deals in flashbacks, semi-present island time, and, if you’re lucky, flash forwards. But mostly, it doesn’t make sense. Beware that this mix contains spoilers.
Get lost in the mix:
- Electric Light Orchestra – I’m Alive
- The Ramones – I Believe In Miracles
- Guns N’ Roses – Paradise City
- Eels – My Beloved Monster
- Neutral Milk Hotel – King of Carrot Flowers, Part 1
- Death Cab For Cutie – I Will Follow You Into The Dark
- Downset – Anger
- Jane’s Addiction – Had a Dad
- Lodger – I Love Death
- Men At Work – Down Under
- Soundgarden – Blow Up The Outside World
- Bad Company – Bad Company
- Queen – All Dead, All Dead
You have broken the seal! I have kept myself from posting a NMH track ’cause it seems almost like cheating, like if every item on a restaurant menu contained bacon. But I guess it worked in this context. I only wish I knew one goddamn thing about the show you were talking about 🙂
I must give this a listen tonight, but I’m itching on giving you the vote for most creative. As a LOST fan, I would’ve never ever thought of where your head is at, but the track listing makes a lot of sense in context.
You’ve saved me a good deal of time watching back episodes of Lost, and for that I thank you. I liked this mix, a lot of stuff I like and other stuff like Death Cab I don’t hear much. Bad Company takes me back to a Tama double bass kit, and drumming in a garage back in 1986.
