Canis lupus familiaris

Archaeological evidence dates domesticated dogs living with Native Americans at least 14,000 years ago. I suspect one day they’ll find evidence going back a lot further. Just a hunch. But until then, here’s to 14,000 years of friendship!

This mix has a special bonus track for dogs (or just people who like frog calls). Play the track for your dog and you should see an interesting reaction.

NOTE: I have a hardware issue I’m working on but until then the drive crunches a bit and so there are a few glitches here and there throughout the mix, but nothing Earth-shattering. If I wait until I fix the problem it will be months before this mix is released, so just releasing as is. It’s not that bad.

#0052 – I’ll Cover You

Play

DJ Scott: Most cover songs, like movie remakes, are irrelevant if not outright offensive.  But there are some diamonds among the heaping piles of dung, and this playlist is an attempt to highlight some of the better covers out there. DJ Kevy Pooh made a covers mix recently, so I’m differentiating my mix by playing both the original song and the cover version.

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE DOGGIE! Another country mix. We all pretty much blew our minds out with our last batch of mixes, so with Kevin’s last mix of covers and this country mix, you can probably tell that we’ve taken a breather before we work up the next bouillabaisse of pure unadulterated awesomeness. In other news, we’ve got some ideas to get this podcast thingy more involved. Details are forthcoming but if you like the shows, you’re going to love what we’re cooking up for June.

DJ Scott: It’s always 4:20 on Radio Gen1us, and this week I’m bringing you some songs that are under the influence.  I know that there are some glaring snubs like Gunz ‘n Roses’ Mr. Brownstone, but I couldn’t DARE leave out deserving artists like Green Jello, could I?  COULD I? Listener Problems Sought!

I’ll be providing boundless wisdom and brilliant advice in my future Dear DJ mix.  I need you to send me your problems, so that I can address them in words and, more importantly, in song.  I liked the Long Distance Dedications mix so much, that I thought this would be fun.  Your problems can be real, fictional, serious, funny, first-person, third-person, anonymous, whatever.  Just send them over to me at cuppycup@gmail.com and I’ll turn your life around.  Please make your letters similar to the Dear Abby style, but maybe less wordy.  Several examples can be found here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/linkset/2005/03/25/LI2005032502583.html
